The sole purpose of the XLR (X-tended Long - Range / Rifle) design form-&-function is the fusion of athlete accuracy with rifle machine precision for ultimate competition performance. To appreciate the design vision of this elite CJR XLR rifle range design, one has to understand the unique requirements and challenges of competitive ELRS. Short (1000m) and Medium (1610m / 1 mile) ELRS courses are relatively successful achieved with conventional (supersonic) ballistics and commercial hybrid (multi-role) firearms like, varmint-; tactical-; sniper rifles or Sport Shooting PRS, NRL or BISLEY rifles. Competing and contending at distances past the 2200 meters, past the extended subsonic ballistic range barrier requires specialised dedicated equipment, period. There are many diverse technical considerations, such as the excessive torque twist of the barrel and chassis because of the high pressures accelerating very heavy bullets exceeding 500 grains in extreme tight twist rate barrels. ELRS rifles are traditionally the realm of custom one-off rifles.

The IQ-design™ super ridged modular chassis, LOW RIDER ACTION® (LRA), with low in-line centre of gravity architecture seats the custom action exceptionally low in the chassis to ensure linear recoil management to assist with athlete on-target follow-through. The chassis (receiver) and action integration has no conventional recoil lug element; instead it uses a side-mount chassis insert and 4 studs, more reminiscent of artillery architecture, with a profound effect on the harmonics and barrel bending movement (whip). The chassis easily supports a ready-to-shoot total weight of 18.1 kg rifle platform up to ELRS 2 Mile / Open Class (ACE / Crusader) regulations. The overextended unique H-frame fore-end lattice matrix ensures superb anti-ballistic torque twist with heavy projectiles to ensure perfect weight distribution for unmatched stability specially for barrel combinations exceeding 40’ (inches). The chassis edifice offer 3 modular sections with options, the stock, the centre block and the fore-end for example in 2 lengths, with mounting points on top and the at the base with picatinny or ARCA options for front rest systems. The fore-end makes provision for and additional internal weight inserts system.

The CJR designated XR (extended range) ELRS action (see photos), is just super magic, a truly custom dedicated ELRS action, bulletproof. The XR is exactly as a Sport Shooting Action should be, simple, precise and reliable. Originally designed for the top-secret custom PHAT HPC ammunitions (High Pressure / High Performance – Cartridges) it is by default HP-rated at an incredible 125 000 PSI max that quite happily accommodate the new generation commercial (HP) cartridges at operating pressures of 85 000+ PSI, as appose to the contemporary 55 000 PSI all brass ammo.

The XR action is naturally larger than common long actions due to the reinforced design, though the dimensions are actually compact and quite elegant for the class. The CJR XR supports an interchangeable barrel system, ideal for the demands of sport shooting. The extended barrel thread seating landing will accommodate ELRS barrels up to 40 mm in diameter x 44" in length. The ejector port length is 110 mm (4.3"), perfect for larger diameter high-performance cartridges with extended overall length due to shallow-seated, long high-BC bullets.
The 60-degree throw bolt has three extended lugs with full-length abutment supporting the locked position, specifically for low expansion PHAT HPC Cases with high bolt face pressure. The bolt face is sized down for cartridges up to 18 mm (0,709"), that will support all the new modern competitive ELRS wild cat calibres and commercial HP cases (from .338 LP/.33 XC, the .375s, .416s etc). The XR boasts a list of impressive features such as adjustable lock time, a two-part titanium firing pin. The action will accept a variety of competition trigger assembly’s, - the CJR Signature rifle straight trigger pull is 1½ ounces! In typical professional competitive range fashion, there is no safety setting, since ELRS Centre Fire Sport Shooting Code rules does not require a safety function and serves no practical purpose.

Stock High Rise Bag Rider
The Scope mount picatinny rails for the standard 2 Mile configurations are raised to clear the angle to the muzzle, with extended barrels. Zero MOA, 50mm raised version intended for thirst party adjustable scope bases, fixed 30mm in 40 MOA and 60 MAO. Custom options for 3 mile configurations are available. The Archon CJR signature adjustable pictinny rail option with 300 MOA adjustment is a game changer.
The cheek razor does not only provide a comfortable steadfast head position; it serves as an additional protection and deflection shield with the excessive recess bolt channel, in case of catastrophic ballistic (brass) failure. This ought to be standard default feature on all ELRS rifles, due to the nature of the high pressure operating performance associated with ELRS ammunitions loads. The anti-clutch-grip specifically designed to ensure no thumb pulse transfer, is adjustable for length of pull, and customizable. The fully adjustable recoil pad extends for length of pull adjustment but also cant left and right to provide a comfortable fit.
The actual prone shooting position, for which the rifle is exclusively designed, is very comfortable and practical for extended shooting sessions. The PRONE-REST® rifle philosophy really comes into its own, with a high cheek raiser, elevated butt position and the lower inline rifle makes for a more ergonomic sustained upper body position especially with the modern shooting position directly in line behind the rifle. The bold bag rider design with extensive travel adjustment provides a unique practical feature which eliminates excessive front rest adjustment engagements, saving shot-string time, especially in some 2 Mile disciplines where only a conventional front rest / bi-pod is allowed. ELRS is the science of accurate elevation, this bag rider will get you quickly and precisely on target! Various contact footprints and shapes are available, eliminating the need for angled rear bag designs.
